I have always liked smaller and more personal stores instead of those big department stores. These smaller store can often carry smaller brands that are unique and hard to find, which makes it even more pleasant to wear these garments as few people actually owns them. And today, I have the honor to present one of theses stores which is called Andrew’s Ties.
Henrik Granqvist opened a small store in 2010 at Rörstrandsgatan 10, located in the homey streets of Vasastan. The store itself are surrounded by small local restaurants and cafes in one of Stockholm’s coziest streets. During 11:00 – 18:30 on weekdays, and 11:00 – 16:00 on Saturdays, we are able to find the founder Henrik or his trusted staff in the store, giving excellent service and knowledge to whoever enters the store.
The store is part of an Italian concept and brand called Andrew Tie’s, which have been in the accessories business since 1991 and have offered high quality products since. Henrik saw an opportunity to have this company behind him, using their knowledge and production to be able to create something of his own. He had a vision to offer a wide and unique assortment of high quality accessories and shirts to an affordable price tag.
With a flexible production in Italy and Bosnia, Henrik are able to produce unique products after his liking under the label Andrew’s Ties. This also means that he have the freedom to develop and make changes to his products, something that few have the possibility to do without owning the label themselves. One recent example of this is that he started to offer nearly all of his ties in both a standard construction and an untipped alternative.
We are able to find find two main categories at Andrew’s Ties, shirts and and accessories. The shirts starts at reasonable 699 SEK, where most of the shirts end up in the 799 – 899 SEK vicinity with fabrics from renowned italian mills such as Tessitura Monti. They are well built and manufactured in Bosnia with balanced collars and where my favorite choice would be the button down alternative.
Accessories such as scarves and bags are made in Italy, where the ties, pocket squares and bow ties are made by hand in Como. We are also able to find belts and bracelets in the store, which adds the last accessories that a gentleman may need to stock up with.
For the accessories, can see various of textures, fabrics and constructions. The ties starts at 499 SEK and most of the ties are using the 3-fold construction, but the brand have recently started offer the same models in a 4-folded construction with untipped edges. The pocket squares starts at 199 SEK and are also offered with hand rolled edges and in all colors and fabrics that you can think of. Last but not least, we have the bow ties. Henrik have successfully turned the well discussed bow tie into one if his best selling product. With a wide selection of self knotting bow ties in different fabrics, colors and texture at an affordable price at 449 SEK, I can really see why he have been able to do this.
Henrik owns without any doubt one of those stores where you just want to come back. It does not matter if it just for a chat, a coffee or taking a look at the newest collection. He always listens to his customers and taking any feedback back to the workbench to be able to develop and improve his products. With that said, I would not be surprised if Henrik have something new up his sleeves as he recently started to offer the well known Passaggio Cravatte ties. Until more is reviled about any new projects, I highly recommend you to pay a visit the store as you will find a good amount of friendly service and a recent started sale that no one should miss out.
